Dr Horacio Caviglia, Pietrogrande Prize winner |
The Pietrogrande Prize was presented to Dr. Horacio Caviglia, from Argentina, in his capacity as a healthcare professional dedicated to the musculoskeletal care of hemophilia patients, who has also supported the extension of knowledge to other professionals.
Many patients and healthcare workers owe a debt to the research and practice of Dr. Caviglia, professor of orthopedic surgery at Buenos Aires University. His ground-breaking work has been widely acknowledged in leading journals such as Haemophilia and Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research. Dr. Caviglia also distinguished himself as the past president of the WFH Musculoskeletal Committee. The Pietrogrande Prize recognizes a healthcare professional who has contributed significantly to further the mission and goals of the committee. Created in 2005, the prize is named for the late Dr. Vicenzo Pietrogrande of Milan, a leading orthopedic surgeon who helped form the Musculoskeletal Committee.
