DESCRIPTION OF TRAINING PROGRAM

Clinical activities: The centre sees 1,940 patients with hemophilia. Its has 28 medical and paramedical staff members and 23 administrative staff members.

Laboratory activities/research: Diagnostic services to support the centre.

Multidisciplinary activities/research: Multidisciplinary meetings; psychosocial workshops for parents, children, adolescents and adults; educational workshops; meetings with professionals from across Argentina; children’s amd family camps; counseling and training on prophylaxis and home treatment.

Additional information: The centre was partnered with Uruguay in the WFH Twinning Program. It trains up to five fellows annually, usually from April to November.

DESCRIPTION OF IHTC FACILITIES

Location: The centre is located centrally in the metropolis of Buenos Aires.
Climate: Summer 26-34ºC; Springtime 22-26ºC; Autumn 20-11ºC; Winter 6-15ºC
Accommodation (residence, meals, etc...): It depends on the season, but residences are always in close proximity to the care centre.
Transportation: There is no need for transportation as residences are close to the care centre.
Language: Spanish
Financial assistance: Dependent on WFH funds.
Cost of living (per week): 200 USD (accommodation and food)
Communications tools for trainees:Computer, Internet access, telephone
Other local support provided for trainees: Library at the National Academy of Medicine and various workshops.
