DESCRIPTION OF TRAINING PROGRAM
Clinical activities: Our centre has a wealth of experience in pediatric and adult patients, with a total of approximately 450 patients and 20 staff members.
There are multiple clinics throughout the week.
Laboratory activities/research: Includes full lab with PFA and other diagnostic equipment. Staff supports research.
Multidisciplinary activities/research: Clinical services provide comprehensive care.
Additional information: The centre has been twinned with the University of the West Indies in Jamaica and has provided training for their staff. We have also trained physicians from Latin American countries.
DESCRIPTION OF IHTC FACILITIES
Location: Houston, Teas in the Texas Medical Center Complex
Climate: Warm, hot and humid. Temperatures average 18-30 degrees Celsius in the summer and 10-20 degrees Celsius in the fall and winter.
Accommodation (residence, meals, etc...): In local hotel. A suite provided with kitchen.
Transportation: Public transport available.
Language: English, Spanish
Financial assistance: Dependent on WFH funds; additional funding would need to be determined on a case-by-case basis.
Cost of living (per week):
Communications tools for trainees: Computer, Internet access, telephone
Other local support provided for trainees: Full complement of staff, inpatient consultation.
