WFH recently established an International Hemophilia Nursing Fellowship (4 per year), funded by Bayer.  Nurses from developing countries who work in close collaboration with hemophilia services are encouraged to apply for these fellowship opportunities.

Selection criteria:  Successful candidates will have strong medical references and recommendations from their officially recognized hemophilia society/association (NMO). Fellowship selection is based on the level of commitment and potential to improve hemophilia treatment after completion of the training period.    The host training centre and the amount awarded are designated on the basis of distance of applicant to the IHTC, the candidate’s preference, language, period of training and facilities made available for meals and accommodation.

Application process:  Applicants must send the attached application form including a detailed curriculum vitae and reference letters to the recognized national hemophilia member organization (NMO) in their country.

The NMO will then forward the applications to the WFH headquarters in Montreal.  When necessary, the NMO and WFH Headquarters will screen applicants for language proficiency to ensure that they will be able to communicate effectively.  When there are multiple applications, the NMO is requested to rank all the applications in the country’s order of priority bearing in mind the merits of the application and the country’s needs.  Please limit the number of applications to 3 per country.

Deadline: Applications must be received at WFH Headquarters in Montreal, Canada by December 31, 2008.  Late applicants will not be considered.  Applications that are sent in after the December 31, 2007 deadline will be only be considered the following year.

Announcement of awards: The International Hemophilia Training Centre Committee will make the final selection of successful fellows in April 2009.
