Training Modules

The IHTC training modules provide standardized training information to fellowship recipients, and help fellows prepare for their training by posting the basic material on the WFH website.

IHTC Genetics Training module

Genetics of Hemophilia - PDF
This presentation briefly introduces hemophilia and its inheritance pattern. It then describes the mutations responsible for hemophilia A and B and their analysis by mutation screening or DNA sequencing. The use of linkage analysis as an alternative means of genetic analysis is also described. An algorithm for genetic testing is given, plus web-based and literature resources.

IHTC Lab Training module

Basic in vivo coagulation and laboratory aspects of haemophilia - PDF
This presentation is intended to give the viewer a basic understanding of the blood coagulation system in vivo, especially the plasma coagulation components. It also gives an insight into the coagulation processes taking place in the test tube, with special reference to hemophilia A and B investigations.

IHTC Nurses Training module

The role of the nurse in hemophilia care - PDF
This presentation explores the role of the nurse in hemophilia care. While there are some responsibilities that are universal for all nurses, individual roles vary significantly among nurses in hemophilia care. Roles vary depending on the background and interests of the individual nurse and the culture of his or her setting.
