Every two years the World Federation of Hemophilia organizes the Musculoskeletal Congress, bringing Orthopedists & Physiotherapists together in one city. The participants spend 3 days not only analyzing and discussing new medical discoveries, but also looking at problems and issues present in different parts of the world.
The 10th Musculoskeletal Congress was held in Stresa, Italy, May 3-6, 2007. An outstanding scientific program was organized by the Musculoskeletal Committee 2007 to meet the needs of all participants.
The program consisted of a Pre-Congress Day, two days of sessions, and one day of free paper sessions. The committee incorporated a voting system for an interactive discussion for some sessions, and included a live surgery session, which was well attended and received by the participants.
Orthopedists and physiotherapists were encouraged to present their work and were heavily featured in the program. The Henri Horoszowski Award, presented to the person with the best original paper, went to Nathalie Jansen this year. The Vincenzo Pietrogrande Award, whose nominations are sought from members of the Musculoskeletal Committee and a final selection is done by the MS Executive Committee, went to Michael Heim.
The 10th Musculoskeletal Congress 2007 was the biggest MSK yet, with a record of 190 participants!
The record number of participants included orthopedic surgeons, Physiotherapists, Hematologists, Students and Industry.
The WFH funded 23 participants from developing countries to participate in this congress.

Social Event
On Saturday, May 5 th 2007, participants left the Congress venue to travel to Lake Maggiore. We wanted to offer a taste of Stresa and the Piedmont region of Italy, and what better way than visiting the Borromeo Islands!
The evening included a visit to the impressive Borromeo Palace, located on Bella Island. Carlo Borromeo III started construction of the palace and park in 1632 in honor of his wife, Isabella. The building contains numerous rooms with original furnishings, a picture gallery with works by the Lombard school, and a chapel constructed in 1834. Following the tour delegates traveled to Pescatori Island to end the evening with cocktails and dinner, at the wonderful lakefront view of Restaurante Italia.
