Visa Requirements

Visa requirements for Malaysia are generally very visitor-friendly, and nationals from at least 127 countries do not need a visa for short stays. Depending on the expected length of their stay, visitors may qualify for a visa upon arrival. Important: Visitors must have a passport valid for at least six months beyond their date of entry into Malaysia.

A special visa application process is required for Israeli passport holders. Please contact your local embassy for further information.

Nationals from countries which require a visa can apply through the nearest Malaysian overseas mission. To locate the nearest mission to you, please visit www.kln.gov.my/web/guest/malaysian-mission.

Supporting documents for a Visa application

Visitors to Malaysia must be in possession of a valid passport or travel document with a minimum validity of six months beyond their period of stay. Nationals from countries which require a visa can apply through the nearest Malaysian overseas mission by submitting the following documentation:

  • Original passport
  • Two (2) photocopies of the applicant’s passport
  • Two (2) photocopies of the visa application form (Form IMM.47)
  • Two (2) passport size photographs of the applicant
  • Two (2) photocopies of the ticket (confirmed and returned ticket)
  • Bank statement or traveller's cheque
  • Invitation letter*
  • Payment of visa fee

*The WFH can provide invitation letters upon request for attendees who have completed and paid their registration in full.

Nationals from certain countries may qualify for eVisas. Please be sure to verify your visa requirements with your travel agent or contact your local embassy for more information.
