WFH WBDR HTC Funding Program

The World Bleeding Disorders Registry (WBDR) HTC Funding Program is a new WFH initiative designed to provide funds to support data collection activities at WBDR HTCs in low and lower-middle income countries.

The Program aims to help HTCs improve patient enrolment, the recording of follow-up visits, and the use of functional scales and Quality of Life questionnaire.

Eligibility
The applying HTC must meet all of the following:

  • Be in a low or lower-middle income country according to the current World Bank’s GNI classification.
  • Have obtained, and shared with the WBDR team, ethics approval letter to participate in the WBDR. If the HTC is in the process of obtaining ethics approval, and meets all the other criteria, the application will be reviewed upon receipt of the ethical approval.
  • Have received training on the WBDR online database.
  • Commit to attending two mandatory training sessions: 1) WBDR Data Entry Refresher and 2) Hemophilia Joint Health Score (HJHS) training webinar.

Funding
Eligible HTCs will be compensated based on the number of active patients enrolled in the WBDR or the number of identified hemophilia patients being followed at the HTC at the time of the application.

The funds are allocated for a period of one year and will be disbursed in one installment.

Change in the Recipient's Status
The funding recipient must contact the WFH to describe any significant changes in the recipient's circumstances that might affect the use of funds. The WFH must also be notified of any changes in institutional affiliation. The transfer of funds to another institution or investigator will be at the sole discretion of the WFH.

Expenses
The funds should be used only for expenses related to WBDR activities.

Disbursement of funds
The WFH must receive all required documents before the payment is transferred. The funding will be disbursed in one payment to the hosting institution.

Funds
The amount of funding per HTC is determined according to a three-category scheme and is based on the number of patients enrolled in the WBDR or identified at the HTC at the time of the application. Those numbers are re-evaluated upon a request for funding renewal.

Upon receipt of payment, the recipient must send a statement from their institution confirming the receipt of the funds.

Progress
Recipient HTCs are required to complete a Funding Report where they indicate what the funds were used for.

Additionally, an internal evaluation based on the data entry performance in the WBDR will be conducted to assess the eligibility of the HTC for renewal. The Program aims to help HTCs improve their patient enrolment, the recording of follow-up visits, and the use of functional scales and Quality of Life questionnaire.

Termination of Support
The WFH reserves the right to terminate support of the project at any time for any reason at its sole discretion.
