WFH COVID-19 Relief Fund

The World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) established the COVID-19 Relief Fund in response to the needs of its national member organizations (NMOs) during the global COVID-19 pandemic. The Fund is designed to enable NMOs to continue providing its programs and services, as well as to support projects directed towards facilitating safe access to treatment and care for people with bleeding disorders. NMOs will be able to apply to receive a grant of a maximum of $5,000 USD for a project of up to one-year duration.

Eligibility

The COVID-19 Relief Fund is open to all WFH NMOs. NMOs already enrolled in other WFH programs and initiatives are eligible to apply to the COVID-19 Relief Fund provided that activities proposed in the submitted project do not overlap with other ongoing programs. All proposed activities and projects must directly address the needs of NMOs and the bleeding disorders community emerging as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, such as:

  • Software, computer and/or related office equipment and connectivity to access and/or deliver online training and outreach activities
  • Communication costs for community engagement and outreach
  • Additional costs to enable people with bleeding disorders (PWBD) to access treatment and care. Such costs may include reimbursement for accommodation and/or transportation expenses for PWBD to access a treatment centre in cases when PWBD cannot otherwise access treatment and/or medical services due to the restrictions caused by the pandemic.
  • Costs of delivery of treatment products to other cities or for home delivery in cases when PWBD cannot otherwise access treatment due to restrictions caused by the pandemic
  • NMO purchase of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) related to COVID-19, such as face masks and/or shields and gloves, for the use of the NMO staff and volunteers, PWBD, as well as health care professionals serving patients with bleeding disorders to decrease risk of exposure to COVID-19

Selection criteria

Decisions on the allocation of funds will be made by the COVID-19 Relief Fund Grants Selection Working Group, based on the following criteria:

  • Projects must be directly related to COVID-19 relief
  • Projects must have clearly defined S.M.A.R.T. objectives
  • Projects must demonstrate innovative and creative approaches for adapting to the current situation
  • Projects must be cost-effective

How to apply

To apply to the COVID-19 Relief Fund, NMOs must complete and submit a funding application form. We will accept applications on an ongoing basis until December 31, 2021, or until the funds are exhausted.
